About Us
The Korean Nature Futures Project is a novel initiative that aims to identify synergistic options for achieving biodiversity, climate, and human well-being goals in the Korean peninsula. It goes beyond envisioning alternative futures—it creates evidence-based, actionable scenarios using advanced models and interdisciplinary science. We combine cutting-edge biodiversity and climate research with social sciences to quantify how ecologically diverse and harmonious futures can unfold under different pathways.

Aspiration
We seek to generate transformative science through scenarios and models that will help decision-makers and communities navigate Korea's urgent social-ecological-economic challenges with evidence and insights. We aspire to bridge science, policy and society through the co-learning, co-design and co-production of knowledge in realizing citizens' future visions.
Objective
This project will set the foundation for future prospecting and produce new science and evidence to enable transformations in Korean society as a case study for what can be achieved in other countries. It focuses on human-nature relationships with diversity and inclusivity at its centre to identify enabling policies and actions towards ecological and harmonious futures.

Partnership
We collaborate with a broad range of stakeholders and actors from science, policy and society with each member acting as a catalyzing agent to enhance transformative potential. Our project brings together research, government, and civil society agencies nationally and internationally to share diverse perspectives and to co-create actionable solutions through a whole-of-society approach.
